BAYC NFT Developer Yuga Labs Appoints Daniel Alegre as CEO
JAKARTA – Yuga Labs is the company behind the popular NFT with the ape icon Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). Recently Yuga Labs appointed a new CEO to lead the company, namely Daniele Alegre.
Alegre himself has served as President and COO at a leading video game company from the US, Activision Blizzard. Yuga Labs announced the selection of Alegre as the new CEO shortly after he left Activision Blizzard.
He decided to leave his old company amidst the cessation of Microsoft's takeover attempt on Activision Blizzard. Now, he officially serves as the new CEO of Yuga Labs, the developer of the NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC).
As the new CEO of Yuga Labs, Alegre looks forward to overseeing some creative developments regarding the company's intellectual property. This includes the NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club, as well as the metaverse platform Otherside.
"Daniel has held one of the highest level roles at one of the world's largest gaming companies. He brings valuable experience in entertainment, e-commerce, and global strategic partnerships, all of which are important aspects of the immersive Web3 world that creators and for creators," said Yuga Labs co-founder Wylie Aronow.
Alegre has previously headed Activision Blizzard since early 2020. He has played a key role in developing several well-known Activision gaming brands. These include Call of Duty, Diablo, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, and Candy Crush. In addition, the former Activision President also spent 16 years in various leadership roles at Google.

Alegre Praises Yuga Labs
Yuga Labs' new CEO, Alegre, commended the blockchain technology company for its strides in the Web3 space. According to him, Yuga Labs has earned its name through storytelling and community building.
Additionally, he describes his move to creator Bored Ape Yacht Club as "a huge opportunity to define the metaverse in a way that empowers creators and gives users true ownership of their digital identities and assets," reported by Coinspeaker.
The plan is for Alegre to start work as CEO of Yuga Labs in the first quarter of 2023. He will focus on developing the Otherside Yuga Labs metaverse experience. Alegre will work closely with his predecessor, Nicole Muniz, who currently serves as the company's strategic adviser.
Yuga Labs' Otherside project is one of the largest projects in the NFT space with a trading volume of around 1.1 billion US dollars. Muniz, who previously served as CEO of Yuga Labs, had previously stated that the company would hire the best expertise in their field. The reason is, those who are experienced will play an important role in the development of the next generation of internet.
