700 Thousand Albums Sold, Red Velvet Celebrates Through Birthday

JAKARTA - The K-pop group Red Velvet released their newest mini album titled Birthday on Monday, November 28. This album is a series of The ReVe Festival 2022 after Feel My Rhythm.

The Birthday song as the hero track contains lyrics that tell about the desire to return to the birthdays of the people they care about. On the big day, they want to make all their wishes come true.

Birthday used a sampling of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue song. Previously they also used classic song sampling for the song Feel My Rhythm.

The music video is filled with colorful nuances in which the five members of Red Velvet namely Joy, Yeri, Irene, Seulgi and Wendy go on an adventure. They search for clues and celebrate the big day together.

The lyrics also use references to several song titles that Red Velvet has released.

On the same day, the agency SM Entertainment announced that this album had ordered 712,187 copies. This figure is the latest achievement in Red Velvet's album sales.

In this album, they present five new songs, namely BYE BYE, On A Ride, ZOOM, Celebrate, and Birthday as the main track.

"Some of Birthday's lyrics are sentences and titles from our old songs, you can try to see them," said Joy.

“There is a big difference between this album and the previous ones even though both use classical music from the past. Feel My Rhythm feels more classic and elegant while Birthday sounds cheerful," explained Seulgi.

As for Red Velvet's new album, Birthday, you can listen physically and stream it starting today.
