Via Phone, President Biden And PM Sunak Affirm Relations Between The Two Countries: Agree To Support Ukraine, Will Meet At Indonesia's G20 Summit

JAKARTA - United States President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke on the phone, discussing relations between the two countries, and the issue of Ukraine to AUKUS.

In a statement, the White House said the two leaders reaffirmed the relationship between Britain and the United States and the importance of support for Ukraine.

President Biden and PM Sunak also agreed on the importance of working together to address the challenges posed by China, as well as securing sustainable and affordable energy resources, the statement continued.

Previously, President Biden congratulated PM Sunak through a tweet on his Twitter account.

"Together, I look forward to increasing our cooperation on issues critical to global security and prosperity, including continuing our strong support for Ukraine," President Biden wrote.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Downing Street 10, the official residence and office of the British Prime Minister, said that the two leaders planned to meet in person on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia next November.

In addition, it is said that cooperation between the two countries in the region was also discussed, such as AUKUS in the Indo-Pacific together with Australia, to commitments related to the Belfast Agreement.

"The United States and Britain are our closest allies. I look forward to working with @POTUS to promote stability around the world and continue our leading role in supporting the Ukrainian people," Sunak wrote on Twitter.

It is known, Rishi Sunak became Britain's 57th prime minister, after meeting King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, London on Tuesday, to replace Liz Truss who resigned last week.
