After Going Viral On Social Media, 5 Students Carrying Sharp Weapons Were Arrested By Serang Police Officers

SERANG - Serang Police, Banten Police arrested 5 students carrying sharp weapons (sajam). The arrests were made based on the viral video showing the actions of students carrying machetes at the Pamarayan Baru Dam, Panyabrangan Village, Cikeusal District, Serang Regency.

"After investigating and conducting an investigation in the field, the Serang Crime Investigation Unit finally managed to secure the 5 students who were in the video, all of whom were underage," said Kasatreskrim Serang Polres AKP Dedi Mirza in a written statement, Wednesday, October 19.

Dedi explained that the video was recorded about a month ago. However, continued Dedi, the Serang Police continued to take action against the students.

"Based on the results of the investigation and according to the testimony of witnesses, the video of the action of unscrupulous students carrying machetes at the Pamarayan Dam happened one month ago, the purpose of which was to engage in brawls with other schools. They have planned it with both parties and will meet at the Pamarayan Dam. However, when a brawl occurred, there were no casualties because one of the groups fled," explained Dedi.

From the results of this disclosure, the officers managed to secure various kinds of evidence from the students involved.

"From this arrest, officers managed to confiscate evidence in the form of 1 machete, 1 sickle, 1 machete, and 1 scoopy motorbike," he said.

"For now, the students are still being held at the Serang Police for further investigation," concluded Dedi.
