Budgeting IDR 4 Billion to Control Inflation, Jayapura City Government Will Hold a Cheap Market to Provide Fuel Subsidy
JAYAPURA - The City Government of Jayapura, Papua Province has allocated a budget of IDR 4 billion for inflation control. The funds are sourced from the 2022 regional general transfer fund.
The acting Mayor of Jayapura, Frans Pekey, said that the budget had been allocated to the relevant agencies for the implementation of activities, such as cheap markets and fuel subsidies for fishermen and public transport drivers.
In addition, he said, his party will also establish inter-regional cooperation that has been supplying necessities to Jayapura City, such as from Surabaya and also from South Sulawesi Province.
"So we and the distributors will meet and arrange, so that if possible there is a transportation subsidy from the Jayapura City Government to reduce prices", he said, quoted by Antara on Wednesday, October 12.

He explained that the increase in fuel prices will certainly affect transportation costs so his party will provide transportation subsidies.
"It is also to control every price when it reaches the market, these are the steps we will take to suppress inflation", he said again.
Previously, the Jayapura City Government together with the Jayapura City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) together with the food task force or task force had carried out an inspection of the stability of basic food prices on September 26, 2022.
