Prevent Falling Trees In The Middle Of Rainy Season, East Jakarta City Government Intensively Pruning
JAKARTA - In order to anticipate the occurrence of high-risk fallen trees in the middle of the rainy season, the East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jktim) has intensified tree pruning activities on roads.
Head of the East Jakarta City Parks and Forests Sub-department, Djauhar Arifin, said that his party had cut 1859 trees in September 2022.
"We continue to increase this pruning activity, especially now that we have entered the rainy season," said Djauhar Arifin, quoting Antara, Wednesday, October 5.
Djauhar added, tree pruning is divided into several types, such as light pruning done on small twigs to make it look beautiful, shaped, and more youthful.
Furthermore, pruning is being prioritized on the branches to make them more beautiful in shape. As for the heavy pruning category, it is done by lightening the burden on the tree.
He said that the East Jakarta area is currently more prone to tree splintering or broken trunks due to strong winds.

"Actually, most trees are prone to splintering because it depends on the speed of the wind and rainfall, if the fallen tree is hopefully still relatively safe," said Djauhar.
Djauhar said that his party had also mapped out which areas of East Jakarta were considered prone to fallen trees during the rainy season.
"The first is in Duren Sawit District, Ciracas District, Cipayung District, Pulogadung District," said Djauhar.
He said his party was following up on all reports from the community that needed tree pruning so as not to endanger the community during the rainy season.
The Parks and Urban Forest Sub-Department (Sudin) received pruning requests by mail, CRM, JAKI and Qlue.
