Sandy Walsh And Jordi Amat Taking Oaths As Indonesian Citizens Virtually, Menpora: Still Legal
JAKARTA - Two candidates for naturalization of the Indonesian national team, Sandy Walsh and Jordi Amat, are one step away from becoming Indonesian citizens (WNI). Both of them just took the oath as Indonesian citizens.
Menpora Zainudin Amali said that Walsh and Amat's oath-taking would be done virtually. However, this process is still valid.
The man from Gorontalo admitted that he had coordinated directly with the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (HAM) Edward Omar Sharief Hiariej.
"I have coordinated with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, with the Deputy Minister, he is okay, because they are playing abroad, some are in Europe, the Jakarta Regional Office of Kemenkumham will take the oath virtually, that is also legal," Amali said, as quoted by Antara, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
However, the Minister of Youth and Sports has not been able to provide an exact time for when Walsh and Amat will take the Indonesian citizen oath taking.
According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, his party is still waiting for the official correspondence from the results of the DPR RI Plenary Meeting to be able to continue the naturalization process for the two players to the Presidential Secretariat.
VOIR éGALEMENT:
"Wait for the DPR to send it here (the Presidential Secretariat -ed). Hopefully, today, if there is a plenary session, one of them, has been approved, but in Commission III and in Commission X, I have directed it. It's okay, there's no problem, "he said.
Previously, on Tuesday, September 20, the Indonesian House of Representatives approved the application for consideration of granting Indonesian citizenship to the candidates for the Indonesian national team, Jordi Amat and Sandy Walsh in the 5th Plenary Meeting of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the First Session of the 2022-2023 Session Year.

After leaving the DPR, Walsh and Amat's naturalization process will continue to the Presidential Secretariat to issue a Presidential Decree before taking the citizenship oath.
