Survey Shows Half Of Californians Might Choose EV, If Incentives And Information Are More Convincing

JAKARTA - A survey conducted by the electric vehicle advocacy group Veloz, revealed that almost half of Californians tend to choose electric vehicles (EV) to be in the vehicle market.

California is now pushing EV sales past 15% among new vehicles. It's a more daunting challenge to get from relatively recent adopters to switching away from most gasoline vehicles by 2035

Launching from Greencarreports, the survey focuses on two aspects that the results say are not offered to most buyers, namely incentives and education.

Seven out of ten Californians support the idea of replacing current EV incentives with point-of-sale vouchers, and suggest it in the form of coupons that shoppers can take to dealers, thus giving them instant discounts.

The Veloz survey found that 69% of Californians support the voucher idea, while another 20% are against it and 11% are unsure of the idea.

As a George Washington University study found earlier this year, shoppers are so fond of spot-of-sale discounts that they'll take a lower incentive to buy than a potentially larger one later.

But in a more nuanced question, the survey reveals a lot of room for improvement, and ways policymakers in the state can help more consumers connect.
