Anies Said That He Was Ready To Run For President When He Was Still DKI Governor As Approriate
JAKARTA - A number of parties view Anies Baswedan as unethical in stating that he is ready to run as a presidential candidate (candidate) in 2024 while still holding the position of Governor of DKI Jakarta.
However, according to political observer from Al Azhar University, Ujang Komarudin, now is the right moment for Anies to declare himself ready to take part in this political contestation.
Ujang said that currently, Anies is still often a public discussion because he still has a position as regional head. Moreover, Anies' term of office in DKI is less than a month until October 16.
"This is the right timing. Anies is less than a month away from serving as governor. Like it or not, like it or not, it must be expressed amid Anies' pressure to run or not," Ujang told VOI, Monday, September 19.
Then, the public has also questioned Anies' certainty to run in the 2024 presidential election. Various policies, programs, and developments in Jakarta are currently also often associated with Anies' candidacy scheme.
"So far, Anies has probably received a lot of questions, pressure, whether to run for president or not. Right, whatever the issue is always linked to Anies' candidacy. Like the JIS stadium, then the KPK examined Formula E, it was linked to the presidential candidacy," said Ujang.
"Even though many people think it's not right, I see Anies has already measured the timing," he continued.
Previously, while in Singapore, Anies stated that he was ready to run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election if there was a political party or coalition of political parties willing to carry him.
"I am ready to run for president if a party nominates me," Anies told Reuters in an interview in Singapore, Thursday, September 15.

Anies revealed that he has the space to communicate with all parties in order to be able to take part in the political contestation in the next two years. This is because he is a political figure who is on an independent path and does not join any party.
Anies also responded to several survey results of presidential candidates which showed that his current electability was among the highest. "These unsolicited surveys happened before I even campaigned, I think they gave me more credibility," said Anies.
Anies again opened his voice regarding this matter. The former Minister of Education and Culture likens readiness as a presidential candidate when a political party carries him with an assignment from the head of the RT. For this task, Anies admitted that he must feel ready.
"When there is a call for duty, the RT only calls me for an assignment in my village, as a coach for youth organizations, I accept the task. So, the call of duty is something normal. Every time there is a call for duty, namely for the good of the community, It's all good, so I always say I'm ready," Anies explained when met at the Martha Christina Tiahahu Literacy Park, South Jakarta, Sunday, September 18.
