Toyota Announces Investment Of IDR 79 Trillion For EV Battery Production In Japan And North America
JAKARTA - A few days ago, Toyota decided to invest in Japan and the US to increase electric vehicle battery production by 730 billion yen or around IDR 79 trillion.
In Japan, 400 billion yen (IDR 42 trillion) will be invested in the Himeji Plant of Prime Planet Energy Solutions Co., Ltd. in Toyota factories and properties.
Meanwhile, in the US, about 2.5 billion US dollars (IDR 37 trillion) has been allocated to its newest facility in North America, Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC).
Berdasarkan siaran persnya, investasi ini menambah kapasitas untuk mendukung produksi baterai kendaraan listrik baterai (BEV) dan menambah 350 pekerjaan, sehingga total lapangan kerja menjadi sekitar 2.100.
Toyota hopes that its new battery factory can start production by 2025. The facility will produce batteries for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and BEVs.
"This marks another important milestone for our company," said minimal Bafunno, senior vice president, Manufacturing and Engineering Unit at North America's Toyota Motor in a statement.

According to Bafunno, the plant will play a central role in Toyota's leadership towards a fully electric future and will help the company meet its carbon neutrality goals in its vehicles and global operations by 2035.
In 2021, Toyota, in partnership with Toyota Tsusho, announced that it would invest USD 1.29 billion (IDR 19.2 trillion) with 1.750 jobs in TBMNC for its EV battery production. With today's announcement, TBMNC's total investment is USD 3.8 billion (IDR 56 trillion).
