Knocking Out Cristian Baez With A Brutal Punch, Ruben 'Ace' Torres Criticized By Fans

JAKARTA - Boxer Ruben 'Ace' Torres knocked out his opponent, Cristian Baez while appearing at the main lightweight event at the Omega Products International Event Center in Corona, California.

However, after crushing his opponent on Saturday night, Torres was criticized by boxing fans. The reason is, Ace beat Baez with a controversial brutal blow.

Quoted from the Daily Star, Wednesday, Baez had fallen at the beginning of the fight but then he got up. However, during the seventh round, Baez made the mistake of trying to touch the opponent's glove.

That made Torres hit him brutally on reflex with a deadly left hook. The hook hit then knocked Baez down and the fight was immediately stopped with a win for Torres.

The controversial blow went viral on Twitter and made fans argue. They questioned, what Torres did to his opponent was legal or he should be disqualified.

"No, it's not illegal, you're at war. Stop trying to hug and touch gloves," a pro fan told Torres.

“Rule number 1 is to protect yourself at all times. He failed to do so and paid the price. If it's cheating, it's illegal," another commented.

“Cheating, but, protect yourself at all times,” said a contra fan.

“Unsportsmanlike behavior is always inappropriate. What the hell. #Boxing," defended Baez supporters.

After the fight, Torres actually admitted that he could conquer his opponent by maintaining a great punch.

"They always say protect yourself at all times," he said.

“This is boxing and a fighter like me always attacks. "The referee gave the signal to start fighting again and I came out with great spirits, especially after I knocked him out," Torres said.

“I hit him with a left hook and that was it, the fight was over. I'm ready to move on to bigger and better fights as I move up the ranks."

For the victory achieved by Baez, Torres who lives in South Central Los Angeles recorded his unbeaten record to 19-0.
