JAKARTA - PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo explained, currently the transportation sector is one of the largest contributors to carbon emissions in Indonesia.

Carbon emissions from the transportation sector have contributed more than 280 million tons of CO2 in one year.

If nothing changes, he continued, transportation carbon emissions will continue to increase to 860 million tons of CO2 per year by 2060.

"To realize the energy transition in the transportation sector, as directed by the President of Indonesia, we must gradually change the transportation sector from fuel-based to environmentally friendly electricity, which is based on domestic energy," said Darmawan to the media, Wednesday, July 20.

Darmawan added, PLN allocated IDR 120 billion for the construction of electricity infrastructure to accelerate KBLBB this year.

As of June 2022, there are 139 PLN SPKLU units in 110 locations in 48 cities in Indonesia.

As for the additional plan by the end of 2022, 110 SPKLU units will be built which are stretched to build national road maps throughout Indonesia.
