Lebak Predicts Heavy Rain, Residents Are Asked To Beware Of Disasters
LEBAK - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lebak Regency, Banten Province reminded residents to be aware of heavy rain accompanied by lightning because it could cause natural disasters.
"We ask residents to be aware of the bad weather, because this year a resident was reported to have died from being struck by lightning," said Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Lebak Regency BPBD, Agus Reza Faisal when contacted in Lebak, Friday, July 15.
The potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning is likely to occur in the afternoon and into the evening, so people in the area must increase their vigilance to reduce the risk of disaster.
Over the past few days, in Lebak Regency there has been heavy rain accompanied by lightning which among other things has resulted in several locations in Rangkasbitung being flooded. However, the flood quickly receded after the rain subsided.
The people of Lebak Regency, he said, must remain vigilant if heavy rain is accompanied by lightning so as not to become victims of the impact of the incident.
If it rains, he said, residents should not be under trees, fields, rice fields, coastal areas, and in critical areas to avoid lightning strikes.

"We have conveyed an early warning of vigilance to the public regarding the BMKG report of the possibility of heavy rain accompanied by lightning, potentially in the afternoon and into the evening," he said, quoted by Antara.
He also said that currently, the Lebak BPBD is distributing aid for basic needs to Islamic boarding schools in Cikulur District which were burned due to an electrical short circuit.
The fire occurred on Thursday, July 14 afternoon, which resulted in a boarding school building being razed to the ground. There were no injuries or fatalities in this incident.
"We ask residents to pay attention to the power cables to prevent fires," he said.
