Barge Carrier Heavy Equipment Runs Aground In Karangsem Waters Bali

KARANGASEM - Barges and tugboats ran aground in Tanah Ampo waters, Ulakan Village, Manggis District, Karangasem Regency, Bali.

The Head of Polairud Police of Karangasem, Bali, AKP I Gusti Agung Bagus Suteja said that the ship was known to have been stranded on Monday, July 11 at around 14.00 WITA.

The Simindo 4 barge ran aground with the Perkasa Wana 1 tugboat, PT Alpiando Karya Kartika.

"There are no victims. The barge and tagboat are stranded and all crew members (ABK) are safe", said AKP Bagus Suteja, Tuesday, July 12.

The captain of the ship is known as Nasyon Leki. This barge ran aground during heavy rain.

The mapal has been in the Tanah Ampo waters for 7 months to work on the piling project at the Pertamina depot by PT Gran Surya.

"Currently, the condition of the barge, which is still carrying heavy equipment, cranes and pipes, is suspected of having leaked and stranded on Tanah Ampo Beach. Meanwhile, Pertamina's tugboat has attempted to be pulled into the middle of the sea, but it still fails because the sea water is not high enough", he said.

“The incident was caused by natural factors. Where the strong winds caused the anchor towing rope to break until it was stranded", continued AKP Bagus Suteja.
