Mahfud MD Curses ACT If True Diverting Humanitarian Donations

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam), Mahfud MD, condemned the Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Foundation if it is true that it misappropriated humanitarian donations.

Mahfud also requested that law enforcement officers take this case to legal channels if ACT is proven to have misused funds.

"If it is true that the humanitarian funds collected by ACT were misappropriated, then apart from being condemned, the misappropriation must also be brought to criminal proceedings", Mahfud wrote on his Instagram account, @mohmahfudmd, Wednesday, July 6.

In mid-2018, Mahfud said that he had endorsed ACT. He shared his experience when ACT suddenly came to his office.

"To give the endorsement, I was suddenly visited at the office. I was also held at the gun as soon as I finished giving a sermon at a mosque", said Mahfud.

The former Constitutional Court Justice (MK) admitted that he was interested in giving endorsements to ACT to help victims of attacks on Palestinians, natural disasters in Papua, and ISIS attacks in Damascus.

"At that time, I saw that ACT was still purely working for humanitarian affairs", he said.
