Malaysia Masters 2022: Zachariah/Hediana Open Indonesia's Victory, Febbry/Amalia Follow To First Round
JAKARTA - Indonesian mixed doubles Zachariah Sumantri/Hediana Julimarbela opened the victory for the representatives of the country at the Malaysia Masters 2022. This result took them through the qualifying round to the first round.
Appearing at the Axiata Arena, Malaysia on Tuesday, June 5 at noon WIB, Zachariah/Hediana must face the German representative pair, Jan Colin Voelker/Stine Kuespert. This meeting was fierce because they had to go through a rubber game.
However, Zachariah/Hediana's 58 minutes of struggle finally paid off. The Indonesian representative managed to beat the opponent with a score of 21-14, 19-21, and 21-15.
At the beginning of the first game, Zachariah/Hediana appeared less convincing because they had fallen behind by five points since the beginning of the game. Although they had chased their opponents several times, this mixed doubles was left behind in the early interval with a score of 11-8.
The distance at the initial interval brought Zachariah/Hediana to try to appear calmer afterward. However, the first game after the interval was not in favor of Zachariah/Hediana, because even though they kept trying to catch up, they lost 14-21.
In the second game, Zachariah/Hediana's appearance began to show a change, they appeared more convincing to try to make a comeback. Efforts paid off because the second game interval became theirs with a score of 11-7.
After the break, the Indonesian representatives continued to pocket points, even though their opponents had chased them several times, Zachariah/Hediana played calmly and closed the second game with a 21-19 advantage.

Apart from Zachariah/Hediana, other Indonesian representatives who qualified for the first round of the Malaysia Open were the women's doubles pair, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahya Pratiwi. They qualified for the first round after winning the rubber game over Taiwanese representatives Lin Wan Ching/Hsu Ya Ching.
Through the match for 61 minutes, Febriana/Amalia escaped with wins 20-22, 21-14 and 21-4. This victory means that Indonesia has passed two representatives to the first round of the Malaysia Open.
