Wonder Why Roy Suryo Was Targeted In The Borobudur Temple Stupa Meme, Activist Lieus Sungkharisma: Pak Jokowi Is Also Not Angry
JAKARTA - Buddhist social activist Lieus Sungkharisma is surprised that the meme of the Borobudur Temple stupa that resembles President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) should be brought to court, let alone bringing the name of the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Roy Suryo.
According to him, Roy Suryo was not the party who directly made the Jokowi-like stupa meme, but someone else.
"Why is Roy Suryo in the direction? Even though he didn't just make a caption, the contents were read out, there's nothing wrong. Why is the one being targeted to be Roy Suryo?" said Lieus when accompanying Roy Suryo at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Thursday, June 30.
As a Buddhist, Lieus claims that the meme of a Jokowi-like stupa is not a big issue to be fussed over.
In fact, he will ask investigators not to punish the party who made the stupa meme.
"This is because of what happened (making the stupa meme)? Because the government has increased the ticket to Mandala above from Rp. 50,000 to Rp. 750 thousand. I advise the police who make it not to be punished," he explained.
Lieus added that the figure of Roy Suryo so far has often made criticisms which are actually good for the development of this nation. After all, President Jokowi is not angry or offended by the creation of this meme.
"This is the face of the President of Indonesia, the face of a president with six religions in Indonesia, why must he be angry? Mr. Jokowi also has no angry or offended statement. So that's it, Roy Suryo criticizes the government a lot, it must be considered constructive criticism, get used to it. So the government's policy is there to guard it," he explained.
