The Pandemic Improves, Divorce Cases In The Riau Islands Drop To 570 Cases

KEPRI - From January to June 2022, there were 570 divorce cases handled by the Religious Court Class IA Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands Province.

"In 2022, there will be an average of 75 to 85 divorce cases per month", said Head of the Tanjungpinang Class IA Religious Court, Imaluddin, Wednesday, June 22.

He said, the number of divorce cases entered the transition from the pandemic to the endemic period, which was followed by a steep decline in COVID-19 cases, unlike the previous year.

Imaluddin said the number of divorce cases this year decreased when compared to the same period in 2021 as many as 597 cases.

According to him, the causes of divorce in Tanjungpinang City are dominated by economic factors, husband or wife infidelity, and domestic violence (KDRT).

The divorce case at the Tanjungpinang Class IA Religious Court was filed by a couple aged 20 to 50 years.

"Most of the women are suing their husbands for divorce", he said.

However, he continued, not all of the lawsuits ended in divorce, because several cases were successfully mediated by the Tanjungpinang Class IA Religious Court.

"We have successfully mediated several cases so that they ended peacefully in court", he said.
