Persuaded By Manchester United To Join Old Trafford, Christian Eriksen Chooses To Stay In London

JAKARTA - Manchester United is now starting to move in the transfer market. Their latest report is said to be trying to persuade Christian Eriksen to join Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old made a successful comeback with Brentford in the second half of last season. The Denmark international midfielder is expected to opt to remain in London.

The Bees reportedly want to keep Eriksen at their club. In addition, other reports say Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in re-signing their former player.

However, Eriksen has yet to decide between the two clubs. This provided an opportunity for United to make a bid and land Eriksen on a free transfer after his contract expires at the end of this month.

Brentford himself reportedly has made a long-term contract offer after being satisfied with Eriksen's appearance. However, Eriksen has not provided an answer to date.

According to a BBC Sport report, Brentford manager Thomas Frank has repeatedly said that The Bees want to keep the former Ajax playmaker.

Eriksen suffered a heart attack while playing at Euro 2020 last June. He was sentenced to no longer play football before returning to the field after being equipped with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD).

This cardiac aid prevented Eriksen from being allowed to play in Serie A with Inter Milan. To that end, he accepted a six-month contract offer from Brentford in January.

Eriksen left Tottenham for Inter in January 2020. During his time in Italy, he helped the Nerazzurri win the Serie A title in 2020/2021 under current Spurs boss Antonio Conte.

Before Eriksen joined Brentford, Conte had said that the door was always open for Eriksen if he wanted to train with Tottenham.

Manchester United's attempt to sign Eriksen has nothing to do with their bid to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

As is known, the new coach of the Red Devils, Erik ten Hag, has made the 25-year-old Dutch midfielder his main summer transfer target. However, De Jong has not yet decided in the interest of the manager who had coached him at Ajax.
