Bareskrim Arrest 2 Fugitives In Malaysia-Riau Drug Cases
JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police arrested two fugitives in the case of trafficking 47 kilograms of methamphetamine from the Malaysia-Riau network. One of them is the controller of the network.
The two suspects are Abdullah and Zaenab. They were arrested in the Pekanbaru area.
"Abdullah is directly connected to Mr. X, he is a trader in Malaysia," said the Director of Narcotics Crime at the National Police, Brigadier General Krisno Halomoan Siregar in his statement, Thursday, June 16.
The arrest of these two fugitives is a development of a drug case that was revealed on April 12, 2022 in Muntai Waters, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau. At that time, four couriers were arrested.
"Officers arrested four suspects on behalf of M Nofriadi, Heriadi, M Daud, Agus Miran alias Agus Togong," he said.
It was from the arrests that financial transactions were found that financed the operations of the couriers when they picked up drugs from Bengkalis to Malaysian waters. In the end, the two fugitives were arrested.
In addition, during the arrest process, a number of evidences were confiscated, including four mobile phones and two ATM cards. The follow-up plan is to complete the investigation and develop the case to the investigation of the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU).
"We have raised it to the ML investigation for a 47 kilogram TPA," said Krisno.
