Police Criminalize Victim Claims To Be Robbed In Bandung, Perpetrator Makes False Report Fear Of Being Scolded By Parents For Online Gambling
BANDUNG - Bandung Police have convicted a young man with the initials AFT (21) for claiming to be a victim of a robbery case on Jalan Sapan Sumbersari, Bandung Regency, West Java, which turned out to be a fictitious case.
Bandung Police Chief Kombes Kusworo Wibowo said that his party received a report from AFT on June 4, 2022 claiming to be a victim of robbery on June 2, 2022. When reporting, according to him, AFT claimed to have lost a motorbike, cellphone and wallet due to the robbery.
"AFT claimed to have experienced violence by being stepped on, so he admitted that his motorbike was crushed and his chest was stepped on, the motorbike was taken," said Kusworo as quoted by Antara, Monday, June 6.
However, after the report was investigated, according to him, investigators considered that there were irregularities in the case. Because when questioned by the police, AFT admitted that he had been abused at the location of the robbery, but had fainted at home.
Although strange, according to him, the police are still investigating the whereabouts of AFT's motorbike which is said to have been stolen. However, the police found clues that the missing motorbike was actually in a pawnshop.
"So they checked the police number of the victim's motorbike and the motorbike at the pawnshop, it turned out to be the same. The pawnbroker said that the person in question was the one who pawned it," said Kusworo.
After receiving these instructions, according to him, investigators concluded that the report on the act of burglary from AFT was a false report.
"Victims who claim to be robbed, lost their motorbike, wallet, and cellphone, in fact they were not robbed but pawned, and the wallet, the cellphone was deposited with a friend," he said.
Thus, the investigation into the robbery case was declared to be stopped or null and void after the issuance of SP3 (order to terminate the investigation).
As a result, the police then changed the status of AFT, which was previously a victim, to a suspect in a false report case.
Kusworo explained that AFT made the false report because the motive was to get money quickly. However, after pawning his motorbike, according to him, AFT was afraid of being scolded by his parents, so he admitted that he was a victim of robbery.
"The motive is to pay off online gambling debts, the person concerned lost online gambling for Rp. 4 million, the motorbike was pawned for Rp. 5 million," said Kusworo.
As a result of the act of making a false report, AFT was charged with Article 220 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of one year and four months in prison.
