72,203 Palangka Raya Residents Already Undergo COVID-19 Booster Vaccination

PALANGKA RAYA - A total of 72,203 residents of Palangka Raya in Central Kalimantan have been injected with the third or booster dose of vaccine.

"As of last Tuesday, the achievement of the third dose of vaccination in our cooperation program and our vaccination program reached 72,203 people or 32.32 percent of the total vaccination target of 233,417 people", said Palangka Raya Mayor, Fairid Naparin, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 2.

The achievement of the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination was 261,623 people or 117.10 percent of the target, and the achievement of the second dose of vaccination was 225,797 people or 101.07 percent.

The target for COVID-19 vaccination in "City of Beauty" is 223,417 people. The targets are divided into five categories, namely health human resources with a target of 3,512 targets, 14,287 elderly targets, 21,920 public services targets, 154,647 targets for the general public, and 29,051 youth targets.

Vaccination targets in Palangka Raya were also extended to children aged 6-11 years.

Fairid, who is also the Head of the Palangka Raya COVID-19 Task Force, invites the public to always implement health protocols, to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

Fairid added that vaccination is a way to protect the public from exposure to and the risk of contracting COVID-19.

What's more, he continued, currently the government has also allowed people not to use masks when in open spaces. For this reason, his party continues to intensify the implementation of vaccinations for all doses.

Vaccinations in Palangka Raya were carried out by health centers, hospitals, and service outlets held by various other parties who worked together and were directly involved in the program.

Based on data from the Palangka Raya City COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of early June, there were only four residents who were declared positive for the virus. The task force also recorded that 550 Corona patients died.

There were 17,760 positive cases of COVID-19 in the local area, of which 17,206 have been declared cured.
