Called Slow To Find Harun Masiku, KPK: Any Information Regarding Wanted Person Must Be Followed Up
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has responded to a statement by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) which assessed that the anti-corruption agency did not want to try to find fugitive Harun Masiku. In fact, MAKI compared the actions of the KPK in searching for Harun with M Nazaruddin.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) emphasizes that chasing suspects who are on the Wanted List (DPO) cannot be the same. Because, according to the KPK, each search for fugitives has a different challenge.
"Each search certainly has different challenges and complexities," said Acting Spokesperson for KPK's Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri, Wednesday, June 1.
Ali denied that the KPK was said to be slow in finding a Wanted Person. Because according to him, so far the KPK has succeeded in hunting down several fugitives, leaving four Wanted Persons, including Harun Masiku.
"The KPK has previously succeeded in arresting DPOs several times. The KPK noted that there are at least 4 remaining DPOs that are still the KPK's obligation to immediately arrest them, namely Harun Masiku (2020); Surya Darmadi (2019); Izil Azhar (2018); and Kirana Kotama (2017)," he explained.
Ali also confirmed that the KPK would continue to search for the Wanted Person. Therefore he asked the public who know the whereabouts of the people in question to immediately report to the KPK.
"Every information we receive regarding the whereabouts of the Wanted Person, we will make sure it is followed up," said Ali.
Previously, the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) assessed that the KPK did not have the ability to find fugitive DPO Harun Masiku, but did not have the will to search.

"The main key is not that the KPK no longer has the human resources or the ability to look for Harun Masiku, but the main thing is that it doesn't want to, so there's no will to look for it," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman to reporters, Monday, May 30.
Boyamin then compared it with the search for M Nazaruddin who had been arrested in Colombia. According to him, the search for the suspect in the Wisma Atlet project case was carried out with a strong will.
"In the past, for example, in the Nazaruddin case, he was able to arrest him in Colombia because at first, it was because of a will, a strong determination to arrest him. How in the past, he went into hiding without extradition but then carried out high-level lobbying efforts in the end Singapore 'didn't want' Nazaruddin or was told to leave Singapore, finally in Colombia he was arrested. Well, there was a will, so the main thing is that now there is no will to arrest Harun Masiku," he said.
