Malang Students Arrested By Densus 88, Spread ISIS Propaganda Content

JAKARTA - The student with the initials IA (22) in Malang, East Java, who was arrested for his involvement in a criminal act of terrorism is known to often spread propaganda content on social media. The content is related to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

"He is a propagator of the ISIS terror group's propaganda content," said Head of Operations for Densus 88 Anti-terror Kombes Kombes Aswin Siregar when confirmed, Wednesday, May 25.

Then, from the investigation until now, it is known that IA is connected to the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) group. This is because clues to communication between IA and one of the suspects from the group were found.

"The person concerned was also found to be connected to JAD based on the results of previous investigations," he said.

As for the role related to funding, Aswin said it was still in the process of being explored. Investigators are still exploring IA's information regarding the pattern in fundraising and the parties who received it.

"As for the funding, we are still exploring it," said Aswin.

IA is a student of one of the universities in Malang. He was arrested in connection with a terrorism case on Monday, May 23.

Detachment 88 Anti-reror is still investigating IA's statement in order to track down parties related to acts of terrorism and their networks.
