A Few Hours After Failing To Win The English Premier League, Liverpool Immediately Brought In New Players
JAKARTA - Liverpool officially signed Fabio Carvalho from Fulham. The player who plays as a striker will join the Reds on July 1.
The 19-year-old played a key role in the Cottagers' promotion to the English Premier League for the 2022/2023 season. He scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 36 games.
"We can confirm Fabio Carvalho will join the club in the summer. The 19-year-old striker has officially completed a transfer on July 1", Liverpool wrote on Instagram.
Liverpool and Fulham had previously agreed to the transfer of Carvalho in January. However, the deal was canceled before the close of the transfer market.
Carvalho played for England at the youth level but made his Portugal Under-21 debut in March.
He is a Fulham academy graduate who was nominated for the EFL Young Player of the Season. However, unfortunately, he lost to Brennan Johnson, a player belonging to Nottingham Forest.
"Fabio is a great talent and we are doing everything we can to secure him here on a longer contract so he can play in the Premier League with Fulham", said club owner Tony Khan, quoted by BBC Sport.
"It didn't prove possible, but we were able to keep him for the rest of the Championship season, and for that, I know he will always be very fondly remembered by our fans."
Carvalho's arrival was only a few hours after Liverpool failed to win the English Premier League. This indicates the Reds are ready to clean up for the sake of welcoming next season.
