Good News For Badminton Lovers, Indonesia Masters 2022 Can Be Watched Live On Conditions For Booster Vaccines

JAKARTA - Good news for badminton lovers in the country ahead of the Indonesia Masters 2022 on June 7-12. The organizers said that the international standard Super 500 badminton event could already be attended by live audiences.

"Good news for badminton fans because the Indonesia Masters 2022 can already be held with the presence of a live audience. The audience can witness and support their champions at Istora Senayan,” said Deputy Chairman of The Indonesian Badminton Association Executive Committee (PP PBSI), Alex Tirta during an online press conference on Friday, May 20 afternoon.

By being able to be attended by the audience directly, of course, this will make the Indonesia Masters 2022 event the first agenda that has been open to the public since 2020. Because even though in 2021 it will still be held. However, the agenda was held behind closed doors with a bubble system due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

For the audience capacity, Alex Tirta said that the grandstand area will be opened to around 50 percent of the total available capacity. However, it is possible that it will be fully available. Depending on how the development of the situation continues to be monitored towards the D day.

“The capacity that has been opened to spectators in the stands is 50 percent so far. But the situation continues to be monitored and it is possible that all of them will be available at the event later in June, "Alex added.

Despite providing good news about the Indonesia Masters 2022, which can be attended by live audiences, Alex Tirta continued to emphasize that strict health protocols will still be applied at the venue, where the main requirement that is emphasized is for the audience to complete vaccines and boosters.

“Most importantly, the audience must have a booster vaccine as proven by the Peduli Protect application. This means that spectators who have just been vaccinated twice or have not been vaccinated at all are not allowed to come directly to the arena,” said Alex.

Indonesia Master 2022 will be held for six full days at Istora Senayan, Jakarta. In this world-class badminton tournament, there will be 273 badminton players from 28 countries who will compete for the championship title.

Meanwhile, Indonesia as the host will field 53 representatives in five different numbers.
