Many Deviant Practices, Minister Teten Admits Cooperation Unit Are Unpopular Among Young People
JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperation and Small and Medium Enterprises Teten Masduki said that cooperation or business entities which organizations were specifically established with the aim of providing welfare to members are currently not popular among young people.
"Currently, cooperation is not popular among young people, there are many things, there are many deviant cooperative practices and secondly, the cooperative business model is not developing," said Minister Teten in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Antara, Thursday, May 19.
This was conveyed by Teten after a visit and dialogue about cooperation and SMEs with cooperative members and exporting SMEs at the Palm Craft Workshop, Pendowoharjo Village, Sewon District, Bantul, DIY.
"So cooperation is not a rational choice to do business. And this is what we are trying to make piloting how to develop a cooperative business model," he said.
Therefore, said Minister Teten, in the current digital economy era, his party is starting to introduce cooperation in the economy to young people.
"I have spoken to Mr. Nadiem (Minister Nadiem Makarim), the most important thing is that we have started to introduce cooperation in the Web 3.0 era.
Meanwhile, related to a visit to Palm Craft which produces home decor products, Teten said that creative home decor products are one of the fastest-growing potentials because according to the ministry's records, these handicraft products are included in the top list of world market demand.
"So if we want to develop the creative economic power of home decor crafts in Bantul, we must tidy up the ecosystem, supply raw materials, finance access to technology, and so on," he said.
