Age Over 65 Years And Health Factors, 76 Prospective Hajj Pilgrims At OKU Sumsel Cancel To The Holy Land
OKU - A total of 76 prospective Hajj pilgrims (CJH) from Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra, have postponed their departure to the holy land of Mecca this year due to age factors.
"The reason is CJH's age which is more than 65 years and health factors," said Head of Hajj and Umrah at the OKU Ministry of Religion, Abdul Muis in Baturaja, Antara, Sunday, May 15.
Previously, the number of CJHs from OKU Regency who were ready to leave this year reached 297 people. However, due to a reduction in the quota from the Central Government by 45.7 percent for all regions, including OKU District, the number was reduced to 146 people.
"Of these 146 people, including 76 CJH, whose departure was postponed this year due to age," he said.
He explained, according to the provisions of the Government of Saudi Arabia, CJH over the age of 65 can perform the pilgrimage next year. According to him, currently CJH OKU is still in the process of re-registering before departing for the holy land of Mecca to perform the pilgrimage.
"The departure schedule has not yet been determined. What is clear is that the first batch for the South Sumatra region will start in early June 2022," he said.
