Manchester City Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan Still Hurts, Doesn't Want To Watch The Champions League Final Between Liverpool Vs Real Madrid: I'll Do Something Else!

JAKARTA - Manchester City midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan, seems still hurt by failing to bring his team through to the 2021/2022 Champions League final. He admits that he is always carried away by emotions when he thinks of the final of the best competition between European clubs.

Gundogan has confirmed that he will not watch the Champions League final match between Liverpool and Real Madrid, 28 May. He will find another job.

"If I think about the final in Paris then I will feel very angry, frustrated, disappointed. I certainly will not watch it," Gundogan told the Daily Mail.

"I will definitely try to do something else that day," he continued.

The German player emphasized that there was nothing that could make him really accept failure to reach the Champions League final this season. "The only thing that will help is time," said the former Borussia Dortmund player.

At the meeting against Real Madrid in the semifinals, Manchester City actually had a great chance to qualify. Moreover, in the second leg which took place at the Santiago Bernabeu, The Citizens had a 1-0 lead and made the aggregate 5-3 for the visitors' advantage.

However, Real Madrid's two goals in the final minutes of the normal half-ruined everything. They had to undergo extra time until finally conceded again due to Karim Benzema's penalty.

The aggregate which was 5-3 for Manchester City's advantage turned into 6-5 for Los Blancos' victory.

"Maybe we can't say much to ourselves that we made a mistake, but in the end, we conceded two goals in two minutes," he said.

"We weren't focused enough. It wasn't enough. That's the fault we gave ourselves," the Manchester City midfielder added.
