JAKARTA - A total of 300 tons of bulk cooking oil from the central government for the people of East Nusa Tenggara arrived in Kupang using a sea toll ship subsidized by the Ministry of Transportation.
Special Staff of the Minister of Transportation, Buyung Lalana, said that the Ministry of Transportation's involvement was to prepare a ship to bring 300 tons of cooking oil from North Sumatra.
"The ship carrying 300 tons of cooking oil departed from North Sumatra on April 28 and just arrived", he said, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, May 10.
He added that the arrival of 300 tons of cooking oil is expected to be able to meet the demand for cooking oil in the island-based province.
Buyung added that as an archipelago province, the cooking oil needs to be distributed to several areas in NTT, especially on remote islands so that people on those islands can also get cooking oil.
"I think that currently there are many pioneer ships and people's shipping. But it does need good supervision from the regional government and KSOP for shipping safety", he said.
In addition, after being distributed, the community is also expected to be able to feel the benefits of the bulk oil.
In addition to cooking oil, the sea toll ship also carries 800 tons of granulated sugar for the people of NTT.
