JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) confirmed that during the first quarter of 2022 the government did not spend on COVID-19 vaccines.

The Director-General of Budget of the Ministry of Finance Isa Rachmatarwata said that the current number of vaccines was sufficient for national needs.

"This year, we have sufficient supply of vaccines. In fact, we are trying to speed up booster vaccines and we can say that we almost did not spend on vaccines in the first quarter of 2022," he said through a virtual channel on Wednesday, April 20.

According to Isa, different conditions were encountered at the beginning of last year when the government was trying to catch up with time to prevent the spread of the delta variant.

"In 2021 we will spend an extraordinary amount of time for vaccines, for medicines as well, then to anticipate the second global arrival of COVID-19. That is why in the first three months of last year the expenses were very large," he said.

According to VOI records, vaccine spending for the period throughout 2021 reached IDR 33.2 trillion which was used to buy 310.9 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

At that time, the number of the first dose of vaccine that had been injected was 161.1 million doses. Then, for the second dose of vaccine, 113.7 million doses have been distributed. Meanwhile, 1.3 million doses of the third dose of vaccine have been injected.

Meanwhile, in the latest development on April 19, 2022, it was stated that the first vaccination had distributed 198.35 million doses, the second vaccination was 163.03 million doses, and the booster was 31.86 million doses with a national target of 208.26 million doses of vaccination.
