Running Without A Machinist, KAI Guarantees The Security And Safety Of Jabodebek LRT Customers
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is preparing a preventive and anticipatory approach in ensuring security and ensuring the safety of Jabodebek LRT customers prior to the soft launch in August 2022.
KAI's VP of Public Relations (Persero) Joni Martinus said, KAI together with other stakeholders had evaluated incidents during the previous trial period, so that similar incidents would not occur in the future.
"KAI has prepared a comprehensive strategy and developed strict safety protocols throughout the testing process until the operation of the LRT later," he said in an official statement quoted by Antara, Monday, April 11.
Currently, he said, KAI has entered the GoA 3 testing period on cross-services, so KAI will test the Jabodebek LRT automatically with extreme caution.
These prevention efforts include conducting a series of tests, checks, and maintenance carried out periodically by competent personnel and supervised by experts in their fields. This is done considering that the Jabodebek LRT will be operated by the system automatically.
"Even without a machinist, an automated system that works properly according to programming will automatically guarantee safety," he said.
Joni further explained that this integrated automatic system consists of two key components, namely signaling and telecommunications. The signal will adjust the distance between trains, accelerate and brake automatically. Meanwhile, telecommunications that regulates data communications, regulates power supply and protection from the electrical side.
Not only that, KAI also applies prevention by training special human resources regarding all operational aspects of the Jabodebek LRT so that it can run safely and safely, as well as implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for emergency conditions, both on the train and at the station.
In anticipating emergency conditions, the train series is equipped with emergency contact intercoms, fire and smoke sensors, as well as drop and collision detection which automatically stops the train instantly.
In addition to sensors and detection devices, KAI has also placed a Light Fire Extinguisher (APAR) and a glass-breaking hammer in the Jabodebek LRT circuit.
Intensive monitoring is also carried out through CCTV installed in all train series and at stations. Not only that, for evacuation purposes, all Jabodebek LRT stations provide connecting bridges.
"Train Attendants and security personnel are also always on duty to ensure the safety and comfort of passenger travel from departure to arrival at their destination," he said.
Joni added that until April 2022 the progress of the Jabodebek LRT reached 81.45 percent and it is targeted for a soft launch on August 17, 2022 and commercial operation after that.
"KAI is committed to providing a safe and comfortable Jabodebek LRT service through various safety policies and commitments during the testing period and when it starts serving the community," he concluded.
