Praying On Friday, Mesut Ozil: Let's Pray For Peace In The World, Not Only In Ukraine But Also In Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Iraq

JAKARTA - Mesut Ozil for the first time opened his voice about the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Through social media, the German player of Turkish descent prefers to upload a video praying.

Completing the video, the Fenerbahce player strings words together.

"Let's keep praying for peace in the world. Not only in Ukraine but also in Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Iraq and all other places in the world where people are suffering from war," Ozil wrote in his statement.

He also included #StopWar #JummaMubarak and @M10 at the end of his post.

Ozil is a devout Muslim footballer. He is often seen praying before starting the match. On social media, every Friday, the former Real Madrid player routinely composes various prayers.

In the prayer, Ozil completed it with a photo of himself stretching his arms straight with his chest. The courtesy and ethics as exemplified and taught by the Prophet Muhammad Rasulullah SAW.

In 2019, Ozil voiced support for Uighur Muslims. At that time, Ozil, who was finally frozen from the Arsenal squad and left the Gunners, had uploaded his concerns about the injustices experienced by Uighur Muslims due to the policies of the Chinese Government.

Regarding this, Arsenal responded to Ozil's upload through a statement on the club's official website. They emphasized that what Ozil said on his social media account about Uighur Muslims was a personal opinion and Arsenal said they did not want to get involved in political issues.

This attitude is considered much different from when Arsenal voiced support for Ukraine which was also related to political issues. The difference in the attitude of the Gunners is in the spotlight and polemic of netizens.
