Head Of Russian Investigative Committee Orders Investigation Of The Barbaric Treatment Of Prisoners And Shooting Of Civilians

JAKARTA - Russia's top investigative official said it had ordered an investigation into the barbaric acts of detainees, as well as the shooting of civilians in Ukraine, according to the press service of the Committee.

The chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has ordered an investigation into reports of the barbaric treatment of Ukrainian nationalist prisoners of war in the Kharkov region.

"Bastrykin has instructed investigators to investigate the circumstances of the incident, build up the evidence and identify all those responsible for convicting them under the law," the press service said, quoted by TASS, March 28.

Videos of the cruel treatment of detainees by Ukrainian nationalists were posted on the internet, showing the nationalists shooting in the legs of the detainees, not offering medical assistance. The incident reportedly took place at a Ukrainian nationalist base in the Kharkov region.

In addition to the barbaric treatment of detainees, Bastrykin also ordered an investigation into the use of shootings against civilians who were trying to escape, leaving the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhy.

"The chairman of the Investigative Committee instructed the Main Investigative Department of the Committee, to collect evidence and identify those responsible for bringing them to account," the press service said. According to reports on the internet the previous day, on March 17, 2022, Ukrainian troops opened fire on civilians. who tried to leave the city at a checkpoint in Zaporozhye.
