Makes Envy, Dubai Police Will Strengthen Smart Patrol Cars Worth 196 million Dirhams
JAKARTA - The Dubai Police has again made a breakthrough that can make police from other countries jealous, along with the addition of smart patrol cars worth hundreds of billions of rupiah.
If nothing goes wrong, Dubai Police will add 400 smart patrol cars to their fleet, the Emirati Police Chief said on Wednesday.
The procurement of the Ghiath smart patrol vehicle, thus the name of the car, will last for the next five years, with a total value of 196 million dirhams or around IDR 765,445,023,588.
Manufactured by Emirati automaker W Motors, the Ghiath was one of the first cars to be fully manufactured in the UAE. The new model will be built at W Motors headquarters in Dubai Silicon Oasis.
Equipped with the latest technologies, this smart patrol vehicle will be connected to the Dubai Police operations control room.
Dubai Police Chief Lieutenant, General Abdullah Al Marri, said W Motors together with public security and national security firm Safe City Group, contributed nearly 100 million dirhams for the development of the Ghiath project.
That still adds about 170 million dirhams to set up a factory and production line at the Dubai Silicon Oasis, which is expected to open at the end of this year.
"We and W Motors have a shared vision that revolves around keeping up with the latest developments in the field of mobility. We look forward to using them to ensure the highest level of public safety in Dubai", said Lieutenant General Al Marri, reported The National News on March 16.
The Dubai Police Chief further said there are plans to expand the fleet to include unmanned vehicles, rapid intervention vehicles, rescue vehicles, electric vehicles, and bicycles.
To note, the announcement was made at the World Police Summit held at the Dubai Exhibition Center at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Before this procurement, Dubai Police last November announced the addition of a luxury supercar collection to its patrol car fleet, with the addition of a pair of supercharged Audi luxury sedans.
Not just any Audi, as the new fleet joining is the Audi R8 Coupe V10 RWD, combining style with extraordinary power, housing a 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 540 horsepower.
