Russia Is Ready To Normalize Relations If The US Is Constructive, Kremlin: 20 Years Of Our Worries Ignored
JAKARTA - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday he had no doubt President Vladimir Putin would show the political will to normalize relations with the United States if Washington took a constructive position.
When asked by reporters whether dialogue between Moscow and Washington and any normalization of relations is possible today, Peskov recalled President Putin "always supporting the building of good relations based on mutual respect and readiness to consider each other's problems."
"For decades, President Putin has kept in mind the concerns of our colleagues, even Americans, and has asked (them) to take our concerns into account," Peskov said, quoted by TASS March 16.
"For 20 years, these concerns have been ignored and President Putin together with our country are faced with a fait accompli. When such an attitude is replaced with a constructive approach, I am sure our president will show the appropriate political will," Peskov stressed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for assistance by the head of the Donbass Republic on February 24.
