Donald Trump Denies Spending Campaign Donations For New Private Jet: That Story Is Not True
JAKARTA - Former United States President Donald Trump said in a phone call Monday that he had not used campaign funds to build new planes, despite weekend reports from The Hill and other US outlets claiming otherwise.
"That story is not true", Trump told The Hill, referring to their article in Trump's recent email to his supporters, as reported by Sputnik News on March 15.
"I already have a plane, the same one I used in the 2016 campaign", Trump said, referring to his Boeing 757 'Trump Force One'.
The former US president explained, 'Trump Force One', his private plane, is being serviced in Louisiana and is scheduled to return to the air within 90 days.
"It is owned by me and financed by me, with no debt", Trump said of his private plane.
He stressed that he was required to fly Air Force One, which is the call sign given to every plane carrying the US President. Currently, Air Force One's main jet is the Boeing 747-200.
"I need to trust that you won't share it with anyone: my team is building a new Trump Force One", reads the email issued to 'Save America PAC' subscribers.
"The construction of this plane has been kept secret, not even the fake news media knows about it and I can't wait to reveal it for everyone to see."
The emails mainly included a poll asking supporters whether they were familiar with Trump using his private plane to travel across the country before he became "the greatest president of all time."
The survey linked respondents to a donation page requesting an "Any Amount Immediately" donation for those who would like their response to the former US president.

Donald Trump could not explain why the email asking for donations also included information about repairing his private jet.
"I don't know. I never saw the email (before it went out)", Trump told The Hill.
The email came just days after a Dassault Falcon 900 carrying Donald Trump, Secret Service agents, advisers, and other staff made an emergency landing in New Orleans, Louisiana, shortly after takeoff from the Four Seasons Hotel.
The Florida-bound plane was originally planning to take Trump to his Mar-a-Lago resort when it reportedly suffered an engine failure over the Gulf of Mexico
