Get To Know The Race Control Room Which Is The Advanced Control Center For Racing At The Mandalika Circuit
JAKARTA – In less than a week, the 2022 MotoGP race at the Mandalika Circuit will take place. The race control room will be a sophisticated control center for the race.
This room is located on the 1st floor of the main Mandalika International Street Circuit building. This is where the race leaders, the CoC (Clerk of Course), and their officers will be tasked with overseeing the course of the race.
Officers in the race control room can easily follow all the drivers' moments from the cameras installed in detail along the track. Starting the driver out of the pit garage, traveling along the track, and returning to the garage will be followed closely.
"We can monitor the vehicle from the pit out to the pit in and back to the garage. We can see and control all events on the track," said the Managing Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) Priandhi Satria in a written statement received by VOI, Tuesday, March 15.
The race control room is dominated by a giant wall of television screens containing images from cameras along the 4.31 kilometer track.
The number of cameras installed on the track is also very flexible. Depending on the needs of the ongoing event, whether WSBK (World Superbike), MotoGP, or other events.
The camera is mounted on the outside and the inside of the track. When there is an incident, the camera can be rotated (rotate), zoom close up digitally, and can get good pictures.

"Currently there are 30-40 cameras that can be adjusted to the needs, can be added or reduced," said Priandhi.
The existence of these cameras automatically makes it easier for officers who lead the race. In an emergency, they can immediately make a quick and comprehensive review of events.
Circumstances that generally occur on the race track are accidents. To find out whether the accident is serious or not, usually, the medical officer coordinates with the race control officer to enlarge the image so that the details of the incident can be seen carefully.
If the accident is serious enough, the officer will press the digital red flag button to notify the racer on the track.
"The leaders of the race, the chief marshal, the medical chief can talk to his members on the field. Here all activities are carried out and determine whether the race continues or is stopped," he said.
The Mandalika Circuit race control has been functioning optimally since the WSBK race and the last pre-season test. However, Dorna did ask for a little extra for the MotoGP event in Indonesia which will take place on March 18-20, 2022.
