Paspampres Anticipates COVID-19 And Malaria When President Camp At IKN

JAKARTA - The Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres) anticipate various potential threats, such as the risk of spreading COVID-19, malaria, and attacks by reptiles when President Joko Widodo camps in the State Capital (IKN) Nusantara area, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, Monday 14 March.

The Commander of Paspampres Major General TNI Tri Budi Utomo, in an online press conference witnessed from Jakarta, Sunday night, March 13, said that everyone, including security personnel who entered an area near President Jokowi while at IKN Nusantara, must be tested negative for COVID-19 based on the results of a swab test (swabs).

"So we will continue to carry out the health protocol there, even though the place is in the vicinity of the forest where there may be sufficient air, but it has become a standard for us, anyone who docks around the President must strictly adhere to health protocols," Tri said as quoted by Antara.

Paspampres has been spraying to eradicate insects that cause malaria at the location of President Jokowi's activities. Furthermore, the troops with the motto "Faithful Alert" had anticipated the potential attacks of reptiles such as snakes.

"Then other security around the tents, especially around VIPs, we spread salt and so on to anticipate reptiles, and we prepare anti-snake venom that can be useful, but hopefully not used," he said.

Tri said that all Paspampres personnel would later be on standby in the first ring of security. For security in ring II and ring II, his party will coordinate with Kodam VI Mulawarman and Polda Kaltim.

Meanwhile, Pangdam VI Mulawarman Major General TNI Teguh Pujo Rumekso said his party would deploy 2,064 joint troops to secure President Jokowi's visit to IKN.

"We have deployed troops. The total number is 2,064 people from the TNI, police, and local government. Tomorrow (Monday) morning we will deploy troops, from Novotel (Hotel) to activities at IKN," said Teguh.

Teguh ensures that all possibilities have been anticipated, starting from the moment of departure, until arriving at the location.

"We hope that during the activities at IKN, the weather can be sunny. We guarantee it with the East Kalimantan Police Chief. This event can run safely and smoothly," said Teguh.
