Grand Commissioner Hengki Haryadi Monitors Condition of Central Jakarta Intel Unit Head Who Is Victim Of Persecution During Papuan Student Demonstration

JAKARTA - Central Jakarta Resort Police (Polres Jakpus) is still intensively handling several officers who were injured during the Papuan student demonstration, Friday, March 11.

"Our members, especially the Head of Intelligence at the Central Jakarta Police, who are being treated at the Tarakan Hospital and are being treated intensively, have suffered injuries and were unconscious," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief (Jakpus) Grand Commissioner Hengki Haryadi in his statement, in Jakarta, Sunday, March 13.

He said that the Head of Intellectual Property at the Jakarta Metro Police, Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Ferikson Tampubolon, suffered serious injuries to his head and the results of a "computerized tomography scan" (CT scan) showed that there were bleeding spots in the brain tissue.

A CT scan is a diagnostic procedure that uses a computer and a rotating X-ray machine to create cross-sectional images of the body.

Hengki said that the Intel Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police was beaten when he was guarding and escorting a demonstration by Papuan students in front of the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) office, Friday, March 11.

"Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police, Ferikson, was beaten by Papuan students while securing a demonstration in front of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Central Jakarta. He fainted when he was rushed to the hospital," he said.

Hengki said that the perpetrators beat him after the police gave an appeal to the action of participants to maintain a conducive situation because Papuan students had tried to approach the State Palace.

In addition, he said, there were four members of the Sabhara who were also victims of the chaotic demonstrations.

"They carried out anarchistic acts, four members of the Sabhara were also injured. The mob carried out anarchic acts and attacked officers with stones and others," said Hengki.

Previously, the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General of Police Fadil Imran also visited Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Ferikson who is currently still undergoing treatment at Tarakan Hospital.

The Metro Jaya Police Chief visited Ferikson, Saturday, March 12, along with a number of Metro Jaya Police officials.
