Mandalika MotoGP Update: Repaving Completed On Time, Logistics Have Arrived
MANDALIKA - MotoGP Mandalika 2022 is just a few days away. The MotoGP racers will compete at the speed at the circuit located in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Preparations are getting more mature ahead of the race. The re-paving process requested by Dorna has been completed. Now, enter the cooling stage for one day.
"There is enough time to cool the asphalt and then proceed with polishing or cleaning the layers of oil on the surface," said the Managing Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Priandhi Satria, in an official statement, Wednesday.
As is known, the track that was finally re-paved was the part before Turn 17 to after Turn 5. That means, about 17.5 percent of the total track.
This is known after the MotoGP riders did a pre-season test, some time ago. General Manager of RMI as the main contractor for the construction of the Mandalika Circuit, Simon Gardini, said that the asphalt of the track was infiltrated by bad rocks.
"That was only seen after being burdened by the performance of the MotoGP bike in dry conditions, and it became clear on the first day that dust was not the problem," he said.
