International Judo Federation Imposes Harsher Sanctions On Vladimir Putin

JAKARTA - The International Judo Federation (IJF) has again issued a policy regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine. If previously the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, was removed from the post of honorary president, this time the sanctions given were more stringent.

The IJF decided to remove all important posts and positions held by Putin! This sanction also applies to a Russian businessman named Arkady Rotenberg.

"The International Judo Federation announces that Mr. Vladimir Putin and Mr. Arkady Rotenberg have been removed from all positions held at the federation," the IJF said in a statement, cited from Reuters, quoted by Antara.

The decision was announced in a brief statement following the suspension imposed on Putin as honorary president of the IJF last week.

While billionaire Rotenberg, has been on the IJF Executive Committee as development manager since 2013.

The Federation did not mention explicitly that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was the main reason, but did mention the suspension of Putin's post as honorary president of the IJF in connection with the ongoing war conflict. in 2013 by World Taekwondo, as well as an honorary title awarded by the world swimming federation in 2014.

Not only stripping the titles of Presidents Putin and Rotenberg, the IJF also canceled the Grand Slam event in Kazan, Russia on May 20-22.
