Antartick Is More Brave And Honest In 'Milky Way'

JAKARTA - The band from Bogor, Antartick launched a new single titled Milky Way. A song about the voice of the vocalist, Joean Lasta.

"This song is about a guy trying to get close to a girl but it's really hard. It's a long way from reaching this girl, that's why there's a lyric "You're like a milky way from me," said Joean in his official statement.

In Indonesian, the milky way is a cluster of stars aka the Milky Way. So far away, this woman is likened to feeling above a galaxy that is very difficult to reach.

Apart from the lyrics that contain complaints, this song has a different color compared to the band's previous singles, which also consisted of Anang (guitar), Helvi (bass), and Sandy (drums). They say, the Milky Way is an experimental project.

This time, listeners will no longer find the frenetic music like in the songs Kebas and Speak Up! or rock and roll like Mobil Butut. We also don't hear melancholic pop like the song Rain.

This time, they admitted that they were trying to be more courageous and honest to listen to themselves so they wouldn't get stuck in certain style and color boundaries. Both in terms of lyrics and musical composition.

One of them is by inserting elements of a synthesizer that they have never done before.

“Whether we admit it or not, during the creative process (sometimes) we are influenced by other things from outside that can obscure the originality of an idea. So we make songs according to what we want. Not other people or the market wants it," said Anang.

"We always want to surprise you with every song we release. It's different, obviously. Yes, this is Antartick, I hope you like it," Helvi agreed.
