Corruption In Procurement Of Offerings, Former Head Of Denpasar Culture And Culture Office Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison
DENPASAR - The panel of judges at the Denpasar Corruption Court sentenced the former Head of Denpasar City Education and Culture Office, I Gusti Ngurah Bagus Mataram, to three years in prison.
The defendant was found guilty of corruption in the Special Financial Assistance (BKK) for the procurement of goods in the form of gifts and offerings for traditional villages, traditional Banjars, and Subaks in urban villages throughout Denpasar City in 2019-2020 at the Denpasar City Culture Service.
"To try, to sentence the defendant I Gusti Ngurah Bagus Mataram to 3 years minus the period of detention that has been served by the defendant with an order that the defendant remains detained", said the panel of judges led by Gede Putra Astawa in a virtual trial at the Denpasar Corruption Court, Bali, quoted by Antara on Thursday, February 24.
The panel of judges also imposed a fine against the defendant I Gusti Ngurah Bagus Mataram for IDR 50 million subsidiaries 3 months in prison and imposed replacement money of IDR 155,000.00 million subsidiaries 3 months in prison.
In their ruling, the panel of judges determined that the deposit amounted to IDR 1,022,258,750, to be deposited into the state treasury.
The panel of judges stated that the defendant I Gusti Ngurah Bagus Mataram had been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption as regulated in Article 3 Jo. Article 18 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law no. 20 of 2001 concerning amendments to Law No. 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jis. Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
Responding to the decision read out by the Panel of Judges, the Public Prosecutor and Legal Counsel for the Defendant expressed their thoughts.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor demanded the defendant be sentenced to 4 years in prison and a fine of IDR 300 million, subsidiary to six months in prison with an additional penalty of IDR 1,022,258,750, subsidiary to one year in prison.
