PKS Makes Northern Sumatra One Of The Vote Barns

PADANG - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has made northern Sumatra, which consists of the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, and Riau Islands, one of the ballot boxes ahead of the 2024 General Election.

"PKS is targeting 15 percent of the vote nationally, but I hope the provinces in northern Sumatra can contribute more to subsidize vote acquisition in other regions which is less than 15 percent," said PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu, in Padang, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 21.

He conveyed this to the technical guidance of 3 members of the North Sumatra PKS DPRD with the theme Optimizing the Role of the DPRD in Planning and Evaluation of Regional Development.

According to him, northern Sumatra is a potential area for PKS, because the existing cadres not only occupy the seats of DPRD leadership, but there are also regional heads in provinces as well as districts and cities.

"There are a total of 252 DPRD members here, this is extraordinary, this is different from Central Java and East Java, which are still not optimal in getting seats," he said again.

He said that currently based on surveys from several survey institutions, PKS' electability is said to be at 5 to 9 percent.

"This is different from five years ago, which based on the survey results, PKS' electability was only three percent, and hopefully this is not the final result because there is a multiplier factor between two to three times so that PKS can earn 15 percent," he also said.

Therefore, he reminded all PKS public officials, both DPRD members and executives, to carry out their mandate as well as possible.

"For those in the DPRD, let's struggle to formulate legislation that will provide many benefits to the community," he said. Then allocate a budget that favors the people, so that economic growth increases.

"In this case, I appreciate the Governor of West Sumatra Mahyeldi as a PKS cadre who allocates the agricultural sector budget up to 10 percent of the APBD," he said.

He assessed that this kind of budget policy will increase the income and welfare of farmers.

Including he reminded DPRD members to focus on carrying out their supervisory functions, have high innovation, and continue to increase creativity.
