The Melodic And Painful Side Of Joe Satriani's New Album Illustrated In The Single Song Faceless

JAKARTA - World guitar mogul, Joe Satriani will release his 19th studio album, The Elephants Of Mars, on April 8 through earMUSIC, the international rock label of entertainment group Edel. The album's second single, Faceless, has just been released.

Faceless shows the melodic and poignant side of this album. Satriani describes Faceless as a composition related to loneliness.

"It's about when the person you want to see who you really are but doesn't seem to recognize you," Satriani said.

"It's also a commentary on a society where people know each other less and less, separated by their differences rather than united for shared hopes and dreams. The solo part represents the true self of a person who finally breaks free."

This album comes with an exciting new energy. Through The Elephants Of Mars, Satriani challenged himself to create a new standard for instrumental guitar albums.

"I wanted to show people that instrumental guitar albums can contain much more creative and entertaining elements than I think people are using today," he explains.

From the gripping sci-fi madness of Through A Mother's Day Darkly to the isolation felt in a decaying urban landscape, as depicted in Sahara's first single to the general level of endorphins peaking when elephants finally roar in the title track The Elephants Of Mars, this album will trample your mind while leaving a sonic imprint that doesn't fade.

In 2020, when this album was being worked on in the midst of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Satriani said The Elephants Of Mars really represented the album he hoped to bring with his band.

"We did everything," he said. "We tried the craziest ideas. And we entertained every idea we had about flipping something backwards, upside down, seeing what could happen."
