Apple Fixes Battery And Web Security Issues With MacOS 12.2.1 Release
JAKARTA - Apple has just launched macOS 12.2.1 for all users with some important security and bug fixes. Specifically, the patch for Bluetooth-related battery drain issues on MacBooks.
When it comes to battery life on Apple devices, there are often several variables that can affect the user experience, such as battery health or life.
With so many new issues popping up after the recent introduction of the MacOS Monterey 12.2 software update, it's certain that the new software is causing the problem.
In addition to fixing a bug that caused a lot of device battery to drain while in Sleep mode, "macOS 12.2.1 provides a critical security update and fixes an issue for Intel-based Mac computers that could cause battery drain during Sleep mode when connected to Bluetooth peripherals," Apple said.
Update 12.2.1 also provides an important security fix that fixed a WebKit bug, where when malicious content was detected while browsing the web, it was executed immediately.
"Processing maliciously crafted web content may result in arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of reports that this issue may have been actively exploited," Apple said.
Launching Digital Trends, Saturday, February 12, to update your device to macOS 12.2.1, open System Preferences then click Software Update to see if it's available for your Mac. If available, click Update and wait for it to finish. Make sure you have a strong WiFi connection.
For your information, the second macOS 12.3 beta that also went live earlier this week has confirmed that it includes a battery fix, among other changes there's the much-anticipated Universal Control. Universal Control has been delayed months from its initial launch in 2021.
