This Is The View Of The Yamaha Team Regarding The 2022 MotoGP Pre-season Test At The Mandalika Circuit, February 11-13
JAKARTA - The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team will take advantage of the MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit on February 11-13, to confirm the test results at Sepang this weekend and determine their direction at the start of the season.
Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli had two productive days at Sepang testing the YZR-M1 bike and the various new components they brought with them.
On the final day of the Sepang test, Quartararo posted the best time of 1:58.313 to finish in seventh place 0.182 seconds off session leader Enea Bastianini of the Gresini Ducati team.
Meanwhile, Morbidelli is still struggling with a knee injury and finished P24 that day.
"Two days of testing after the riders haven't touched the bike for two months, maybe it's not enough," said Monster Energy Yamaha Team Director Massimo Meregalli in the official website on Sunday.
"Luckily, we are now heading to Indonesia, where of course the tests will be more productive," he said.
During two days at Sepang, Yamaha tested two different chassis specifications and aerodynamic components.
"We will now analyze and study all the information we have gathered and compare it with the feedback from the drivers," said Meregalli.
"In the MotoGP test at Mandalika, we will try to confirm everything, and there we will make the final decision on how we start the season."
