Owner Of 147 Kg Cannabis In Aceh Sued 16 Years In Prison And Fines IDR 1 Billion

BANDA ACEH - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Bener Meriah District Attorney's Office, Aceh, has charged the defendant with possession of 147 kilograms of marijuana with a sentence of 16 years in prison.

The demand was read out by Public Prosecutor, Ahmad Lutfi, at the trial at the Simpang Tiga Redelong District Court, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, Monday, January 31.

The trial with the panel of judges was chaired by Ahmad Nurhidayat and accompanied by Dedi Alnando and Rizki Fadila, each member judge. Meanwhile, the defendant is Jumino bin Karji.

"To demand that the defendant Jumino bin Karji be sentenced to 16 years in prison for being found guilty of possessing narcotics class one type of marijuana", said Public Prosecutor Ahmad Lutfi as quoted by Antara.

The Public Prosecutor stated that the defendant was guilty of violating Article 115 Paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

In addition to imprisonment, the Public Prosecutor also demanded the defendant Jumino bin Karji with a fine of IDR 1 billion, a subsidiary of three months in prison.

The Public Prosecutor said the defendant on October 19, 2021, departed from Gayo Lues Regency to Bener Meriah Regency with 147 kilograms of marijuana.

Arriving in Bener Meriah, the defendant rested at his home. Then, the defendant contacted the person who would receive the marijuana.

Later, the defendant met with the person. However, on the way, the defendant was arrested by the police and taken to the Bener Meriah Police Station for further legal proceedings.

Based on these demands, Railawati, the defendant's legal adviser, stated that she would present his defense. The trial continued on Wednesday, February 3 with the agenda of hearing the defendant's defense.
