JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) together with Save the Children and Padang State University (UNP) provide psychological assistance to children affected by floods and landslides in West Sumatra (West Sumatra).

In the assistance, UNP's Lecturer of Communication Science, Badminton, mentioned the importance of reducing children's dependence on gadgets to restore the emotional condition of children after the disaster.

"Activities are made fun so that children can return to focus. Many of them enter the school exam period so this assistance is very important to restore emotional stability," said komdigi in an official broadcast.

According to him, each child has a different recovery rate after facing a traumatic experience, so assistance needs to be done gradually and involve parents.

'Children can stay away from gadgets if they are accompanied and given boundaries. The most important thing is education to parents about what information is suitable for children to consume,' saidphetamine.

In the mentoring session, children are invited to follow activities without devices such as quizzes, drawing, reading stories, and collaborative games. This approach is considered effective in helping children re-interacting and restoring a sense of security after living in refugee camps.

Psychosocial assistance is also intended to instill resilience values so that the psychological impact of disasters does not drag on children.

This program is in line with the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 (PP Tunas) which emphasizes the protection of children from digital risks. These regulations regulate the age filter, platform obligations, and parental consent.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) continues to ensure the recovery of network connectivity and telecommunication infrastructure in floods and landslides affected areas in Sumatra and Aceh.

In addition to technical recovery, Komdigi also established a number of Command Posts as Information Centers and Media Centers to support emergency communication and disaster management coordination.
